ExDirect’s CapTouch OEM Resources give you everything needed to integrate up to four through-glass capacitive touch buttons into your electronics housed in a Hawk or Dual Hawk enclosure using an EA500-DisplayHousing. This enables users to interact with your instrument without removing the cover.
Deliverables
You will receive code for an MSP430 microcontroller, with low-power and standard-power options depending on your application (battery, line, or loop-powered). PCB schematics, production files, and complete component lists are included, along with mounting outlines for seamless integration into the EA500-DisplayHousing. With three Display Housing options available and ample room for your custom electronics, CapTouch OEM Resources offer a simple, board-level interface that accelerates development and enhances your product’s user experience.

Function
An onboard MSP430 microcontroller manages all button functions, delivering outputs for both momentary and sustained presses. The capacitive touch buttons operate reliably with the cover on or off and self-calibrate for consistent performance in varying environmental conditions.
Fast-Track Design
Schematic and PCB files are provided to accelerate your design process. Each includes all required electronic components, a complete bill of materials with .lia libraries, and outlines tailored for the EA500-DisplayHousing. The PCB layout offers optimal button placement and ample space for integrating your own circuitry.
Preloaded MSP430 Code
ExDirect provides MSP430 microcontroller code for operating capacitive touch buttons—ready for use by your in-house or contract manufacturing team. Two versions are available. SFT127, optimized for ultra-low power consumption, is ideal for battery-powered designs. SFT183, designed for continuous operation, is suited for line or loop-powered devices requiring standard capacitive touch functionality.
Integration Use Only
These files are provided for direct integration into your OEM electronics. Engineering support for implementation, testing, or troubleshooting is not available. Compatibility is limited to EX500-AL-W, EX500-SS-W, EN500-PL-W, or EX550-AL-W enclosures with an EA500-DisplayHousing and is not guaranteed with other hardware.
